October 11th, 2015 The RUN is 21 out of 21 Weeks

Waist high or better, at least once a week. There was
SURF ALL WEEK From JOAQUIN. Oct 4th-8th, 2015

The JOAQUIN Swell and all that he brought.

Not gonna lie here. I'm a big Joaquin
Phoenix fan. With all of his quirkiness and stubborn traits, he is a ball of talent and energy. So when the Hurricane swell of last week became Joaquin, I knew it would be special. And he was.

It was fun thinking of this man as the namesake of the waves we were getting all week. And although it wasn't the biggest Hurricane surf we've ever had, it was most certainly a fun run of waves. And judging by the
amount of photos we have this week I think you will all agree. We will take a Joaquin swell any day of the week.

I was a bit skeptical about last week's posting in the yesterday section. Mostly because I was not sure how my wife would take to it.
From the
Brazilian style bikini in 87 to the current bikini in 2015. Most women are pretty sensitive about those kinds of things. Truth is, she still looks great. So I had no second thoughts about her. I did however have them about me.

I am living proof that we are all going to get old.

This was us on October 10th, 1987. We look like kids.

And this photo below is one of our favorite pics from that day.
Cory and I are standing at the point at Fox Hill and the man in the foreground is Jerry (Cory's dad). And the man who took the photo was my father Gus. They are both gone now. My dad passed in
2000 and Jerry passed in 2005.

Thus the reason why this particular photo is special.

The other good thing about this day was, there was NO SURF. I was praying that there wouldn't be a swell. The last thing I needed was the temptation of getting in a surf before or after the ceremony. I did however see one wave as I was waiting in the chapel. I looked out the back window and saw one waist high wave peel across the reef. That was special.

Speaking of photos. Cory is a good surf photographer. And the reason why she is, is because she has been around it for decades. I first taught her how to shoot surfing in 1984. She stood outside in the ankle deep snow in high heels (I swear she did) and took some of the most memorable footage I have in my library.

So it was a given that she would shoot a few pics on our honeymoon.

Although she never got the big waves I surfed at H-bay she did manage to snap this. Like I said, she can shoot surf. So much in fact, that she has the opening gallery on this week's blog. From the sunrise Joaquin swell on October 7th, 2015. I think you'll agree that she has a handle on surfing and surf photography.

I'd like to see more of the women surfers submit more photos. Girls like Erin Prawoko who can surf and shoot, Erica Nardone is another surfer/photographer. And there's a host of others.

So come on ladies, put that board down for a few waves and snap some pics. There's too much talent out there that needs to be shared with the local and international surf communities.

Now for Some Of My Weekly Global Observances
The never ending list of celebrities who have stepped off the deep end is almost funny. The latest loony bird from Hollywood is Randy Quaid He was stopped at the border in Canada trying to get into the USA. Not quite sure what is going on with Randy. But it sure looks like he's had a few too many (take your pick-pills, booze, or radical Islamic Muslim lessons).

He reminds me of Gary Busey. Who's another one who stepped off into the black hole. Can you imagine the kind of women who would date, or hang out with these individuals? Or those women who would marry them? They would have to be insane.

Not like this fool below is going away anytime to soon. His reputation has been tarnished beyond any kind of comeback. I do however see him doing stand up in some prison. Can you imagine what they would do to him behind bars?

Real good chance that they would not drug him. They'd knock him out, but they would certainly not waste any drugs on him. They would just have their way with him.

The world is a crazy and wonderful place. These are the 27 women who have been attacked by the monster known as Bill Cosby. If you look closely you will see...the unmistakable mug of the Wacky Terrorist in GITMO known as KSM. Did Cosby molest him too? Wow. This is big news at GITMO.

Please my friends, enjoy the weekly humiliation of the master mind behind the September 11th 2001 attacks. The man who was behind the killing of 3,000 innocent civilians. The number two big dog of Al Qeada. Khalid Sheik Mohammed.

* Note to self, must pick up a case of elderly sanitary napkins at
Home Depot.

*HAPPY BIRTHDAY October babies.

Please keep my sister Evamarie in your thoughts and prayers
and continue to send positive thoughts to our dear friend Meghan Evans and family, same with surf photographer Andrew Rebeiro and my dear friend Greg Brooks. Also say a prayer for my good friend Robert Gerard. And please continue to pray for local Hampton surfers Terry Morrison and Rick Fiorentini and their families. And lastly, please pray for Dave O'Connor. A good man, a great mentor to so many kids, and a wonderful school principal.

Please Support ALL The photographers who contribute to Ralph's Pic Of The Week every week for the last 9 years. **Think about BUYING a HIGH RES Photo from any of the weeks on RPOTW.

A Wave a day for 365 consecutive days.
Yesterday- Elena and Robin Rowell (invited guests) and wedding crasher young Duffy "Sex Mutt" McCarthy.
(Below) This is another favorite photo from our wedding day. Elena and Robin were a great surf couple. We love Elena. And we love Robin. There is NO ONE who knows more about Southern California surf history, then Robin. I mean he is a walking and talking encyclopedia of surfing. And Duff? Well, he's like a nephew to Cory and I. We were just talking about this pic the other day. Duffy went to our wedding with Kevin Grondin. In hindsight, we LOVE it that he crashed our wedding. Duffy is like family. So funny to think he is now a husband and father. And he should be a role model for all young couples starting off. Photo by Jeff Crawford

We welcome all Surf Related pics from our Readers. Just make sure they are at least 900 pixels wide. If you have any OLD photos of local New England surfers and or of local New England surfing, we would love to see them and share them with our readers.

We can scan them for you. And we get them back to you undamaged. Trust me. We can do this...people love the older stuff. So if you have any, please send 'em along. If you have prints/slides we can scan them for you.

And we don't care if you shoot pics with with your cellphones. I mean it. Most of the images you see on the news and on the Internet were shot with them Smart Ass Phones. So shoot and ask questions later.

SUMMER Twenty Fifteen

These are the Summer clips from 2015 here in NH. I will have a video from the MOLLY 2015, and the Wounded Warriors 2015, as well as the good clips from the last hurricane season. They will be coming soon. Meanwhile, this video was really just the last two months. But it features the following locals. Mikey Evans, Kody Grondin, Kevin Grondin, Jesse Gould, Max Fatello, Shayne Forsley, Ryan McGill, Tyler McGill, Hannah Vokey, Julie Jakoboski, James Morse, Jon Kiskinis, Robert Matuely, Gilly Donatelli, Rick Evans, Lars Hamilton, Skip Brunette, Ana Brunette, Elizabeth Ann, Melinda, Tom Hay, Jared Hay, and a whole bunch more. It's 14 minutes long. The surfing is, well, it's locals surfing a local break. Soundtrack is from two of my favorite artists, Nuno and BH. So grab a cup, sit back, and watch the boys and the girls have some summer fun. And look for the next few videos soon. My name is Ralph and I approve this description.
